item upgrade upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item upgrades to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like a perfectly broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats such as damage to attack, crit chance, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. This bonus could exceed the damage a weapon upgrade alone can cause.

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity as well as its current level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. In the case of items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could render them unusable unless you have an extremely lucky roll.

The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their stats. In the case of a helm or chest, this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it could roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain when upgraded, along with their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button in the item menu using the arrows that are circling. This will roll an item upgrader kit and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's level or connect it to an account's status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference to your survival. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character is, the more value you can get out of each point of health you have and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as possible.

To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in cold environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with friends.

Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to work on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also gain benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some improvements to the chest armor and helmets to permit you to sneak past some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, provide a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each having particular effects and durations. When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value with time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance rings or cloaks). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when choosing the items to upgrade. For example, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing the new one.
