How to Replace an audi keys replacement programming audi key fob replacement cost; Gadegaard-bjerre-3.federatedjournals.com link for more info, G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and could indicate chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test because there are several pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading approximately 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors aren't firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I got 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 and both are used in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. To do this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or a misfire when in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you notice any of these symptoms. The good news is they are very cheap and easy to find, especially in the case of an Bosch sensor, which is what ours are. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a number of problems in your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi a3 key replacement's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost and then sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms resistance between these two points. This part is common across the audi lost key 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU, so you might find some good ones in wrecking yards.happy-young-woman-with-key-sitting-in-ne
