Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from the beginning that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3 wheel push chair!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat, as the frame can be fitted with a wedgie to allow for optimal position, and also car seat adapters to a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children are able to push it. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump in the road, particularly if it's on rough terrain like grass or unpaved paths. Some models also have front wheels that lock to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Some models come with air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain adventure, but they could be prone to punctures, so ensure you have a spare set in the trunk. Some models have gel-filled or foam-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, however they could cause discomfort for your child should you decide to jog.

Folding

A 3-wheel double buggy can fold up pretty easily for storage. You can find options that fold flat and then stand up (as when they're in a pushchair position) and also those that pop open to reveal an umbrella-style fold, with an electric brake. In general, the more wheels a buggy has the more comfortable it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will have to flip or tip your child.

The iCandy Wave is a popular choice. It can be used with an infant car seat from birth and then transformed to a double buggy when your child is old. It's a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and rain cover.

Another option is the phil&teds sport which is future-proof since it's great as a single buggy right from the start and can be adapted to accommodate 2 (or even three!) all within its compact footprint. It features a clever 3-wheel design with a sling seat for superior manoeuvrability, stability and kerb pop.

For something a little different, the Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight buggy that can accommodate twins from birth (it's open to the world and features a lie flat position). The clever frame can be expanded to accommodate a second seat but it still only weighs about 11kg so it's easy to lift and manoeuvre. It can also accommodate an infant car seat or carrycot, so you get the best of both worlds. it can help you save money in the future as you don't need to invest in another buggy right away.
